Privacy Policy

This is a starting template, not legal advice. Have it reviewed before launch — and note that Apple requires a working privacy policy URL for App Store review.
Who we are
StudyMeet ("we", "us") operates the StudyMeet mobile app and studymeetapp.com. Contact: support@studymeetapp.com.
What we collect
- Account data: email address and password credentials used to create your account.
- Profile data: display name, exam track, specialty interest, target score, availability, study resources, optional photo, and optional bio.
- Usage data: connection requests, matches, messages you send, and sessions you plan.
- Technical data: device type, app version, and diagnostic logs used to fix crashes.
- Waitlist data: if you join our waitlist, the email address and exam preference you submit.
- Contact form data: the name, email address, and message you send us.
- Abuse prevention: when you submit a website form we store a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) and your browser's user-agent string, solely to rate-limit spam. The hash cannot be reversed to recover your IP.
How we use it
- To match you with relevant study partners and operate core app features.
- To deliver messages and notifications you have opted into.
- To manage subscriptions and entitlements.
- To keep the community safe and investigate abuse reports.
We do not sell your personal data.
What other users can see
Your profile is visible to other verified members. Your email address and account credentials are never shown to other users. Messaging is only possible after a connection request is accepted.
Service providers
We use third parties to run the service, including Supabase (database, authentication, storage), Expo (app delivery and push notifications), RevenueCat and Apple (subscription billing), and our email/waitlist provider. Each processes data only as needed to provide their service.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Delete your account in-app or email us, and we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain records for legal or accounting reasons.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, or export of your data, and object to certain processing. Email support@studymeetapp.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
StudyMeet is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
